Broadlands House Tours

With the current situation regarding coronavirus the house will not be open in April 2020 for tours.  Our thoughts are with everyone affected and those helping all of us at this difficult time.

As the situation changes, we will update you and hope to be able to welcome you to Broadlands later in the year.

Monday 17th – Monday 31st August 2020

Gates open 12 – 5pm

Last admission and tour at 3.30pm

Because our tours can vary in length these times are a guideline, but we would recommend that you consider this when planning your visit.

Broadlands remains a family home and selected ground floor rooms are open for guided tours. The gardens and grounds are not open to visitors.

TOURS

Tours last approximately 1 hour and will finish on the lawns by the River Test.

Exempt Items Tours are also offered from Monday 17th – Friday 21st August and Monday 24th – Friday 28th August.  These tours include extra items not normally available for public view.  Places are limited so it is advisable to book in advance with Visitor Services at Housetours@broadlandsestates.co.uk

Large groups will need to book in advance of visiting.  If you are planning such a visit with a group of between ten and twenty (maximum), please contact Visitor Services at Housetours@broadlandsestates.co.uk to book a day and time and to make any necessary arrangements.

Groups of more than ten will be split into two upon arrival.  While the second group is waiting to visit the House you may wish to watch a film about the life of The 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma which is available throughout opening hours for all visitors.

Senior Citizens and Students (with student card) £8 (general tour)

Exempt Items Tours (all Visitors) £12

CATERING

Whilst we have no catering facilities at Broadlands there are many and varied places for refreshment in Romsey, just a few minutes away.  As we are only open for a short season we prefer not to take away valuable business from the town and are happy to supply a list of suggestions.

You are welcome to bring a picnic with you.  Tables are available adjacent to the visitor car park.

PARKING and TOILET FACILITIES

These are situated in the visitor car park which is five minutes’ walk from reception and the House.

ACCESS

Dogs, with the exception of guide dogs are not admitted.

The House is accessible for wheelchair users (one per tour due to space limitations).  We regret that we cannot accommodate mobility scooters.

The grounds leading up to the House have gravelled pathways.  Access to the River Test is via sloping lawns but good views of the river are available from the paths.

Should you require disabled parking please call 01794 505080 before 1pm on open days or visitor reception 01794 505058 during opening hours.

PHOTOGRAPHY

For security reasons, photography is not allowed in the House but you are welcome to take photographs outside.

GETTING HERE

For your SatNav enter the post code SO51 8GG.  This will take you to a mini roundabout on the outskirts of Romsey town centre at Broadlands’ main gates.  If coming from the East please ignore the instructions to turn right into the town and instead turn left through Broadlands’ gates.
